  1. What is life drawing?
Life drawing is the practice of drawing the human figure from a live model. At The Figure Room, we focus on the beauty of the human form in its natural state — raw, expressive, and full of story.

  2. Do I need to have experience to join?
Not at all. All levels are welcome, from complete beginners to seasoned artists. These sessions are untutored and self-paced. You're encouraged to explore, experiment, and enjoy the process.

  3. What should I bring?
Just bring your favourite drawing materials — sketchbook, pencils, charcoal, pastels — whatever you like to work with, except for oil paint and solvents for health and safety regulations. Some basic supplies and boards are available at the studio if you forget anything.

  4. Is the model nude?
Yes. Our sessions feature nude models, presented with care, consent, and reverence. This is a respectful space where the human form is honoured as art.

  5. What can I expect?
Expect a welcoming, low-pressure space where creativity flows freely. Each session begins with short warm-up poses and gradually builds toward longer ones. There’s no instruction, just quiet focus, occasional conversation, and the gentle energy of people drawing together. Whether you're here to practice, unwind, or reconnect with your creativity — this space is yours.

  6. Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Due to the nature of life drawing, all participants must be 18 years or older.

  7. Can I take photos during the session?
Photography or recording of any kind is not allowed, to protect the comfort and privacy of our models and to keep the focus on the art of observation. Photography is allowed before the session begins, during the break, and after the session.

  8. How long is each session?
Each session runs for approximately 2 hours, with a short break halfway through.

  9. Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, bookings are essential. We keep the space intimate and numbers limited, so be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time. No drop-ins.

  10. Where are the sessions held?
We host sessions at a beautiful inner-city workshop space in Sydney. Full location details are provided upon booking.

  11. What if I need to cancel?
You can cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before the session for a full refund. After that, bookings are non-refundable.

  12. Can I come alone?
Absolutely! Many people come solo, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. You’ll be drawing among fellow creatives and kind souls.

  13. What makes The Figure Room different?
These sessions go beyond technique. The Figure Room is a soulful space where presence, connection, and creativity are celebrated. Each session is carefully curated, from the energy of the model to the pacing of the poses to create an experience that’s intentional, moving, and rooted in the joy of being human.
